Devin Jefferson is in her ninth year as the Stockton head women’s basketball coach. Jefferson has won 84 games on the Osprey bench, with the year’s total improving each year from 2018-24 and again in 2025-26.
Last year, Jefferson led Stockton to a 16-11 record that marked the highest win total in her tenure. The Ospreys tied for third in the NJAC regular season standings and reached the NJAC Tournament semifinals. In 2024-25, Stockton won 11 games, reaching double digits for the fifth consecutive full season. Jefferson led Stockton to 15 victories and fourth place in the NJAC during the 2023-24 season.
Stockton tallied 12 wins and finished second in the NJAC in scoring defense and rebound margin in 2022-23. The campaign continued the progression after an 11-win season in 2021-22. The 2020-21 season was limited to just six games due to COVID.
In 2019-20, Jefferson steered Stockton to 10 wins, a two-victory improvement over her initial season. In her first year at the helm, Jefferson guided a young Osprey team to eight wins in 2018-19, including five during NJAC play. With just one senior on the roster, the Ospreys gradually improved and finished strong by winning four of their last seven contests.
Jefferson arrived at Stockton with 10 years of college coaching experience. She spent five years as the associate head coach at Division I Fairleigh Dickinson University. Jefferson served as the Recruiting Coordinator at Fairleigh Dickinson and was heavily involved with scouting, player development, compliance and community service programs.
During her five seasons, Jefferson helped the Knights record 47 victories, including 15 in 2017-18 for the program’s highest win total since 1992-93. Jefferson worked primarily with the post players at FDU and was instrumental in several of them receiving Northeast Conference honors and continuing their careers professionally.
Prior to joining the FDU staff, Jefferson was an assistant coach at the University of Vermont for three years from 2010-13. She coached players who earned two America East All-Conference and two America East All-Rookie honors and helped the Catamounts reached the semifinals of the America East tournament in 2013. Jefferson’s college coaching career began at Division II Bloomfield College, where she was an assistant coach from 2008-10.
An Orange, New Jersey native, Jefferson’s collegiate playing career began at Mitchell College (CT), where she was an NJCAA All-America Honorable Mention and NJCAA All-New England selection. She transferred to Seton Hall University and played three seasons for the Pirates in the Big East. Jefferson earned Big East All-Academic Team honors twice and received the team’s Most Improved Player award and Richie Regan Leadership Award. Following her athletic career with the Pirates, Jefferson played semi-professional basketball with the NY Gazelles (Bronx, NY).
Jefferson earned her bachelor’s and master degrees from Seton Hall. She was accepted to the Leadership Newark Fellowship Program in 2008, a network of emerging and established leaders who are committed to focusing on public policy issues in the city of Newark. She also was accepted in the prestigious NCAA Achieving Coaching Excellence (ACE) program in 2016, and the Alliance for Women’s Coaches (now called WeCOACH) and the Women’s Coaches Academy in 2014.
