Harry Silverstein is in his 11th year as the Stockton head women’s tennis coach. Silverstein has compiled a record of 91-47 (.659 winning percentage) during 10 straight winning seasons at the helm. Last season, Silverstein led Stockton to a 7-4 record and the team’s first appearance in the NJAC championship match in three years. In 2022-23, Silverstein steered the Ospreys to a 12-5 record for the program’s highest win total since 2012-13 and most victories in his tenure.

The squad went 11-4 in 2021-22 for the highest win total under Silverstein at the time. In Spring 2020, Silverstein coached Stockton to a 6-2 mark during the season that was shortened due to COVID. The Ospreys went 5-1 in conference play, eventually finishing as runner-up in the inaugural NJAC Tournament.

Silverstein coached Stockton to a 9-1 record during the 2019 fall season before the annual spring trip was canceled due to COVID. The slate was highlighted by an eight-match winning streak and a runner-up finish in the NJAC standings. Silverstein collected his second NJAC Coach of the Year award. Stockton posted a 10-5 record in 2018-19, reaching double figures in wins for the first time since 2014-15. 

The Ospreys posted 9-8 record and a second-place finish in the NJAC with a 5-1 conference mark under Silverstein in 2017-18. The 2016-17 season saw Stockton earn eight straight wins and finish second in the NJAC on the way to going 8-6 overall. Silverstein was rewarded with his first NJAC Coach of the Year award.

The Ospreys went 9-7 and registered a second straight 4-2 mark in NJAC play during a 2015-16 slate that was highlighted by a five-match win streak. In 2014-15, Silverstein led Stockton to a 10-5 overall record and a 4-2 conference mark during his first season as a college coach. The Ospreys strung together five straight wins during the fall and later ended the year with a three-match winning streak in the spring. 

Silverstein made the jump to the college level after a highly successful 30-year career at Vineland High School. He led both the girls and boys teams during his three decades coaching the Fighting Clan before arriving at Stockton in 2014. 

Silverstein coached the Vineland girls tennis team from 1984 to 2014, amassing 465 wins, and also helmed the boys tennis squad from 2002-14, where he accumulated 172 more victories for a whopping 628 career wins overall. Silverstein won a total of six Cape Atlantic League championships, four girls and two boys. His teams also captured nine division titles, seven girls and two boys, plus the 2005 South Jersey Group IV girls crown.

Silverstein spent 12 seasons as Vineland assistant boys tennis coach (1983-95) as well. He was inducted into the New Jersey Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1998 and New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) Hall of Fame in 2000. Silverstein was named Vineland Daily Journal Coach of the Year five times and 2006-07 New Jersey Boys Tennis Coach of the Year by the New Jersey Scholastic Coaches Association.

Silverstein, a 1979 graduate of Glassboro State College, was a physical education teacher for over 30 years. Silverstein has coordinated numerous USTA and local junior tournaments as well as serving on the seeding committee for the NJSIAA state tournament for over a decade.
