James-Zaquell Curtis is in his second season as an assistant track & field coach at Stockton, working with the mid-distance runners. Curtis was a four-year letter winner who competed in track & field and cross country at Jackson State University. He competed in distances ranging from 800 meters to 5000 meters on the track.

Curtis ran a leg for the distance medley relay team that won the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) championship in 2016. He also was the runner-up at the 2016 SWAC Cross Country Championships as well as in the 1500m at the 2017 SWAC Outdoor Championships.
