Kevin Zulauf is in his 17th year as the Stockton head coach. Zulauf is the winningest coach in program history, with a career record of 172-94 (.647 winning percentage) He he has received five conference Coach of the Year awards (three CSAC, two Skyline),Â
Last year, Zulauf led Stockton to nine wins and a semifinal berth in the Coastal Lacrosse Conference tournament. Zulauf coached the Ospreys to an 11-8 record in 2024 for the program’s ninth consecutive full season with at least 11 victories. His 2023 squad went 12-6 in the inaugural season of the CLC. Zulauf became the Stockton wins leader, surpassing his mentor Dick Rizk, with a 14-9 victory over DeSales on February 21, 2023.
Zulauf coached Stockton to a 17-3 mark and the CSAC championship on his way to his third CSAC Coach of the Year honor in 2022. The Ospreys played their first-ever NCAA Tournament home game and advanced to the second round with a 26-11 win over UMass Boston. In 2021, Stockton went 7-2 during the COVID-shortened season, with Zulauf garnering the CSAC Coach of the Year award. Stockton went 5-1 in 2020 before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the pandemic.
Zulauf guided his 2019 squad to a school-record 18 wins and the program’s first-ever conference championship, NCAA Tournament berth and NCAA Tournament win with a 20-9 over Morrisville State. Zulauf hit the the 100-win mark with an 18-12 victory over Misericordia on March 23, 2019 and was named CSAC Coach of the Year. He helmed the Ospreys to a 12-4 mark and the program’s second ECAC title in 2018. In 2017, Zulauf led Stockton to 16 wins and its third straight trip to the Skyline Conference championship game. He was voted Skyline Conference Coach of the Year for the second time in three seasons.
In 2016, the Ospreys won 15 games and advanced to the Skyline and ECAC championship games. Zulauf was voted Skyline Conference Coach of the Year in 2015 after taking Stockton to its first Skyline title game during a second straight 13-win campaign. Stockton set a then-school record with 13 wins in 2014.Â
Zulauf coached Stockton to 7-9 records and Skyline Conference playoff berths in 2012 and 2013, showing progress from a rebuilding effort that began in 2011. Zulauf took over the Stockton program in 2010 and led the Ospreys to a 7-7 mark and a runner-up finish in the ECAC Metro tournament in his first year as a head coach. Â
Under the tutelage of his predecessor Dick Rizk, Zulauf was involved with all aspects of the Stockton program during his two years as an assistant coach in 2008-09. The Ospreys won a total of 16 games and qualified for the Skyline Conference tournament in both seasons.
Zulauf played three seasons at Wagner College from 2003-05, earning MAAC Second Team honors in 2005 and setting Seahawks’ records for goals in a season and career. He was the first player in Wagner history to earn all-conference honors. Zulauf transferred to Stockton and finished his career by leading the Ospreys in scoring with 70 points and earning a spot on the Knickerbocker Conference Second Team in 2006. He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stockton in 2007.
Zulauf played scholastically at Boonton High School, where he was a two-time All-State First Team player who played in the Gill Gibbs All-Star game as a senior and graduated as the school’s all-time leader in goals. His connection with Stockton started with his brother Brad, who was a four-year letter winner at Stockton from 1998-01 and played on a torn ACL as a senior, for which he was named a Comeback Athlete of the Year at the school.
