Stockton Edges Neumann 1-0 on Late Goal

Boxscore

(Galloway, NJ) -   Richard Stockton (5-5-1) snapped a small two-match losing skid with a 1-0 victory over Neumann University (5-4-2) in the first of a three-game homestand for the Ospreys. Anthony Fiorletti's (Freehold Twp./Freehold Twp.) goal from the top of the box at the 78:54 mark proved to be the game-winner. The defeat broke the Knights' two-game winning streak as well.

After a conservative first 45 minutes, in which neither team generated much offense, the Ospreys started to push the tempo in the second stanza. Stockton forced four corner kicks in the first five minutes of the period but could not convert.

Neumann's best opportunity to snap the scoreless tie came with just over 13 minutes remaining. Dan Chrashewsky put a header past Stockton goalkeeper Bob Millar (Green Ridge/Allentown) on a corner kick, but the attempt hit the crossbar and stayed out.

After a Neumann foul near midfield, Dominic Nocito (Delran/Delran) lofted a free kick into the box that was headed out to Fiorletti, who hit a 25-yard blast into the upper left corner with 11:06 to play for the game-winning tally.  The clutch goal was Fiorletti's first career marker and came in the junior's 42nd game in a Stockton uniform.

Millar made two saves in picking up the win, his third solo shutout of the season for the Ospreys. Neumann goalie Tim Glaccum made one save in taking the loss for the Knights.

Stockton is off until Saturday afternoon when they face #17 Montclair State at home in a 1 pm start on Homecoming Weekend. Neumann travels to Keystone College on Wednesday for a 3:30 pm match.
