(Galloway, NJ) – Richard Stockton (7-2) dealt previously-unbeaten College of Staten Island (6-1) their first loss of the season by an 8-1 score.
Krystle Bendijo (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT),
Sydni Fahringer (Northfield/Mainland) and
Gianna Letinski (Barnegat/Barnegat) led the Ospreys with victories in singles and doubles.
In a departure from the normal format, the singles matches were played first and Stockton clinched the team victory by winning all six contests. Fahringer cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory, Bendijo scored a 6-2, 6-0 win and Letinski rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 triumph.
Kristy Faren (Oakland/Indian Hills) won the closest match of the day, rallying to prevail 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 in a super-tiebreaker.
Sam Koropchak (West Milford/West Milford) and
Laura Church (Wall/Ranney School) extended their personal win streaks to five and four respectively with victories by scores of 6-3, 6-2 and 6-1, 6-2.
With the victory already clinched, the Ospreys captured two of the three doubles matches. Bendijo and Fahringer teamed up for an 8-3 win while Letinski and
Brynn Buechler (Pennsville/Pennsville) paired for an 8-1 conquest.
Stockton will compete in the Goucher Open tournament at Goucher College in Maryland over the weekend.
