(Galloway, NJ) - Richard Stockton (2-1) shut out Albright (2-1) 3-0 in the Ospreys' home opener at G. Larry James Stadium. The match also was the first contest of the annual Seashore Classic. Freshman Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Hts./Gateway) led Stockton with two goals and Clevon McPherson (Kingston, JAM/Pemberton) booted his first marker of the season on a penalty kick.
Colofranson opened the scoring 19:06 into the game with an assist by Chris Katona (Howell/Howell). Katona fired a shot from the left wing that was deflected by Albright goalkeeper David Oram. The carom went to Colofranson, who chipped a shot into the right side of the goal to give Stockton a 1-0 lead.
Twenty minutes later, Ian Carmelia (Mt. Holly/Rancocas Valley) was knocked down in the box and McPherson buried the ensuing penalty kick in the back of the net to increase Stockton's lead to 2-0, where it remained through halftime.
Stockton wore down Albright in the second half, outshooting the Lions 11-4 to finish with a 19-9 advantage for the game. Colofranson capped the 3-0 victory with his second goal of the night and third in his first three college games when he headed home a corner kick served by Cristian Valencia (North Cape May/Lower Cape May) at the 66:07 mark. Senior goalkeeper Tim Brett (Palmyra/Palmyra) made five saves to earn his ninth career shutout and Stockton's first whitewash of the season.
Stockton will continue play in its own Seashore Classic tomorrow as the Ospreys take on Methodist University (NC) at 5:30 pm after Albright and William Paterson square off at 3 pm.
