(Galloway, NJ) - 23rd-ranked Richard Stockton (12-1, 5-1 NJAC) used a first half of blistering shooting and cruised to their sixth consecutive victory, 76-61 over Rutgers-Camden (2-10, 1-5 NJAC). The win also was the Ospreys' 12th straight over the Scarlet Raptors dating back to 2008.
Stockton jumped out of the blocks early and led by as many as 16 points before taking a 45-31 lead into the break. Rich Suhr (Toms River/Toms River East) went a perfect 4-4 from three-point range and James Williams (Englewood/Englewood) was 4-5 from behind the arc as Stockton hit on 10-15 (66.7%) shots from long range in the first half. Suhr led the way with 14 of his game-total 16 points while Williams netted all of his 12 markers during the first stanza.
The Ospreys led 52-31 after starting the second half on a 7-0 run that featured five points by Josh Blamon (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson), and they never looked back, increasing the advantage to as many as 28 points (72-44) with 5:17 left before emptying the bench. Eleven Stockton players broke into the scoring column in the game as the Ospreys cruised to their sixth straight win, 76-61.
In addition to Suhr and Williams, Blamon chipped in with 13 markers and three blocks, including 3-5 from behind the arc, while Nnamdi Usuwa (Avenel/Colonia) added 12 points, a team-high seven rebounds and three steals. Kevin Johnson (Paulsboro/Paulsboro) dished a game-high eight assists while pilfering four of the Osprey's 12 steals on the night.
Teon Russell led Rutgers-Camden with game highs of 25 points and 10 rebounds, with teammate Alex Smart adding 11 points for the Scarlet Raptors.
Stockton will take to the road on Saturday for their next game as they will face Montclair State at 3 pm.
