Newark, NJ – Richard Stockton (8-4-3, 1-2-2 NJAC) gave up two goals in the first eight minutes and never recovered as the Ospreys were upended 4-0 by 21st-ranked Rutgers-Newark (13-2, 5-0), which is undefeated in conference play. Stockton generated nine shots, three by Bobby Spracklin (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley), and six corner kicks but was shut out for the fifth time this season in falling to 2-3-2 in its last seven games.
 
The Scarlet Raiders grabbed the early lead on goals by Charlie O'Connell at 3:57 and Raphael Araujo less than four minutes later. Stockton's deficit grew to 3-0 when Diego Moraes connected on a 25-yard free kick 15:55 into the match. Arek Szoldrowski added the final goal of the night with 5:22 remaining in the first half.
 
After being outshot 11-4 in the first half, Stockton held a 5-4 edge in shots plus a 4-0 advantage on corner kicks in the second half but the Ospreys could not get on the board. Stockton also could not capitalize despite playing with a man-advantage for over 78 minutes due to an early red card on a Rutgers-Newark player. Goalkeeper Chris Giraudin (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) came off the bench and made two saves while yielding one goal in 70:31 between the posts.
 
Stockton will host Rowan on Wednesday at 8 pm in the second half of a women's/men's doubleheader between the Ospreys and the Profs.
