BoxscoreUnion, NJ – Richard Stockton (10-4-4, 3-2-3 NJAC) strengthened its NJAC playoff positioning with a 4-0 victory over Kean (10-6-1, 4-4) that moved the Ospreys into a tie with the Cougars for fourth place in the conference. Stockton now owns the tiebreaker over Kean, if needed, on the basis of the head-to-head win.
Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Hts./Gateway) led the Ospreys with a hat trick.
Â
Colofranson needed just 3:13 to get his goal explosion started as he converted a penalty kick that gave Stockton the early lead. Just under seven minutes later, the sophomore struck again, scoring on his own rebound at the 10-minute mark after his initial shot was stopped by Kean goalkeeper Nick Pavlichko. The Ospreys settled for a 2-0 lead at the break on the strength of the two early markers.
Â
The teams were scoreless for 25 minutes of the second half before Colofranson completed the natural hat trick with his team-leading 15th goal of the season at 70:45.
Bobby Spracklin (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) earned an assist with the setup. With just 3:18 remaining,
Chimaobi Ikwuagwu (Camden, DE/Caesar Rodney) added the exclamation point with his second goal of the year to cap the 4-0 triumph.
Jose Islas (Bridgeton/Bridgeton) notched the assist by sending Ikwuagwu in on a breakaway.
Â
Stockton goalkeeper
Bobby Varga (Toms River/TR East) recorded his ninth shutout of the season with nine saves as Kean outshot the Ospreys 19-17.
Â
Stockton will hit the road on Saturday for a non-conference game at Farmingdale State at 3 pm.
