BoxscoreGalloway NJ – Richard Stockton (14-7) won their seventh consecutive game and advanced to the semifinals of the NJAC tournament with a tough 3-1 win over sixth seed Rutgers-Newark (12-7-2) in an NJAC first-round matchup on a cold Saturday afternoon. The Ospreys came into the game as the No. 3 seed and were led by
Chelsea James (Howell/Howell) who had a hand in every marker for Stockton with a goal and two assists.

The Scarlet Raiders broke into the scoring column first with their only tally of the day 15:04 into the game. Sara Corson headed a goal into the net on a pass from Cristina Estremera for the short lived 1-0 lead. The Ospreys rebounded just 2:37 later, scoring twice in a span of 1:37 to take a lead that they never relinquished.

Keara Homan (Manasquan/Manasquan) potted a header from a James pass to tie it at 17:41 with her fifth goal of the year, then James tallied her third marker of the season, from
Adrianna Boucher (Hamilton/Steinert), for the 2-1 lead that lasted until the break.
Lexi Stasi (Cranbury/Princeton) gave Stockton an insurance goal in the 66th minute, scoring her sixth of the year on a rebound of a James shot to set the final score at 3-1.

Lauren Haynes (Williamstown/Williamstown) earned her 14th win of the season by making two saves for Stockton. Veronika Tueros suffered the loss, kicking out four Osprey shots.

Stockton will travel to No. 2 seed The College of New Jersey for an NJAC tournament semifinal match on Wednesday afternoon. The contest is scheduled for 4 pm in Ewing, NJ.
