BoxscoreGalloway, NJ – No. 3 seed Richard Stockton (12-5-5) exploded for five goals in the first half then squandered a four-goal lead in the second half before ultimately edging No. 6 seed Centenary (12-8-1) 6-5 in overtime in an ECAC tournament first-round game.
Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Hts./Gateway) led the Ospreys with three goals while three of his teammates contributed one goal apiece.
Colofranson needed just 27 seconds to get Stockton on the board as he ran onto a chip down the left side by
Bobby Spracklin (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) and scored from a sharp angle. Just over 12 minutes later, an errant Centenary pass sent Colofranson in on a breakaway for his second of the game. Eight minutes after that,
Chimaobi Ikwuagwu (Camden, DE/Caesar Rodney) netted his third marker of the year on a 10-yard volley shot.
Tim Sost (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) capped a run of four goals in 28 minutes with his fifth tally of the season, assisted by
Jeff Morgan (Sicklerville/Timber Creek), at the 27:28 mark. Centenary responded with a goal by Quinn Khouri 1:48 later on the Cyclones' first shot of the game.
Alex Kourahanis (Sicklerville/Timber Creek) closed the first half scoring with his fifth goal of the year for a 5-1 lead.
The second half was all Centenary as they roared by back scoring four goals, including three in a span of 2:13 to knot the game at 5-5. Khouri scored twice, with Richy Castro and Nick DePasquale picking one tally apiece. DePasquale's marker at the 71:48 was the last goal of regulation and sent the game to overtime.
Colofranson ended the high-scoring affair with his third goal of the game and 19th of the season when he headed in the final tally with 1:57 remaining.
Mike DeFeo (Sicklerville/Timber Creek) sent a corner kick to the front of the Cyclones' net where Colofranson potted the game-winner.
Bobby Varga (Toms River/Toms River East) picked up his ninth win in relief of
Brian Swider (Brick/Brick Memorial). Swider started the game, playing the first 72:20 before Varga came on to finish up. Neither Osprey netminder made a save. Kyle Maris kicked out seven shots for the Cyclones in the defeat.
Stockton will face No. 2 seed Drew University in the ECAC Metro semifinals at top-seeded Rutgers-Camden on Saturday (time TBA).
