Stockton Wins 67-59 Behind Strong Second Half

Galloway, NJ – Richard Stockton (2-2) shot 51.9 percent from the floor in the second half to overtake Immaculata (1-4) for a 67-59 victory in a non-conference home game. Sara Farrell (Marlton/Cherokee) led the Ospreys with 18 points on 8-11 shooting. Lauren Alwan (Winslow/Timber Creek) registered her first double-double of the season with 16 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.
 
Alwan scored four early points as Stockton led for the first six minutes before Immaculata went on a 15-2 run that put the Ospreys down 22-10. Stockton fought back to within three on a three-pointer by Farrell with 24 seconds left in the half but a late basket by Adriana Sciascia made it 36-31 in favor of the Mighty Macs at the break. Farrell and Alwan led Stockton with eight points apiece.
 
After Immaculata scored the first basket of the second half, the Ospreys reeled off 12 straight points to take the lead for good. Sasha Williams (Cherry Hill/CH West) scored six of her 10 second-half points during the outburst. The lead grew to seven at 47-40 with 11:40 to play but the Mighty Macs hung tough, closing the gap to one three times in the last 6:28.
 
Immaculata had a chance to tie in the final 90 seconds but Alex Nardoza (Fords/Woodbridge) came up with a steal and fed Farrell for a layup to put Stockton ahead 61-57 with 1:17 remaining. In the last 47 seconds, Nardoza went 4-4 at the line and Alwan was 2-2 as the duo sealed the 67-59 win for the Ospreys. Stockton outscored Immaculata 36-23 in the second half.
 
Williams supplemented her 12 points with seven rebounds, three blocks and three steals. Nardoza went a perfect 8-8 at the line for eight points and added game highs of six assists and four steals. Lauren Bowler contributed four points and four assists for the Ospreys.
 
Sara Smith paced Immaculata with a double-double of 19 points and 12 boards plus a team-high five assists followed by Meghan Gallagher with nine markers and five rebounds.
 
Stockton will be back in action on Wednesday with an NJAC game at College of New Jersey at 8 pm.
