BoxscoreNewark, NJ – #7 Richard Stockton (10-0, 5-0 NJAC) prevailed 48-45 over Rutgers-Newark (8-3, 3-2) on three free throws by
Josh Blamon (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) with 10 seconds remaining that snapped a 45-45 tie. The victory was Stockton's 10th straight, giving the Ospreys their best start since the 1998-99 season (14-0). Blamon went 6-6 from the line and led a trio of double-digit scorers with 12 points.

Armin Cane (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) sank a three-pointer with 1:07 remaining to give Stockton a 45-43 lead but David Azoroh sank two free throws at the 41-second mark to tie the game at 45. After a timeout, the Ospreys ran the shot clock down and Blamon was fouled while attempting a three-pointer with 10 seconds left. The senior calmly drained all three free throws and Rutgers-Newark missed a three-pointer with two ticks on the clock.

Freshman
Marcus Harmon (Whitesboro/Middle Twp.) went 4-6 from the floor including 3-5 from three-point range for a career-high 11 points and Cane hit double figures for the 10th consecutive game with 10 points.
Anthony Woodard (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) grabbed a team-high six rebounds and freshman
Onnir Kendall (Williamstown/Williamstown) led all players with four assists off the bench. Stockton went 10-11 at the line (90.9%) but shot just 33.3 percent from the field and was outrebounded 36-27. Rutgers-Newark connected at an even lower 30 percent from the floor including a frigid 2-13 (15.4%) from three-point range.

Stockton struggled early and fell behind 9-0 before Harmon finally got the Ospreys on the board with a three-pointer four minutes into the game. Blamon scored the next six points and Cane followed with a trey to give Stockton its first lead at 12-9. The Scarlet Raiders later led by five before a tip-in by Cane ended the first half with the Ospreys trailing 26-23.

After four ties early in the second half, Stockton used an 8-1 run keyed by two three-pointers from Harmon to open up a 40-33 lead with 9:43 on the clock. Rutgers-Newark answered with a 10-2 run over the next seven minutes to pull ahead 43-42 at the 2:05 mark but the Ospreys closed with a 6-2 spurt to win 48-45.

Stockton will have three weeks off before playing in the Sponaugle Tournament at Franklin & Marshall. The Ospreys will face Lynchburg in the first round of the tournament on January 3 at 5:30 pm.
