Stockton Ties School Record with 12th Win

(Newburgh, NY) – Richard Stockton (12-3, 3-1 Skyline) tied the school record for wins in a season with a 13-7 triumph over Mount St. Mary (3-8, 1-4) in a Skyline Conference game for their 12th victory. Drew Wright (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) totaled team-high four points on two goals and two assists and reached the 100-point mark for his career. Max Becker (Oak Ridge/Jefferson) and Vinny Gencarelli (Rockaway/Morris Hills) were the top goal scorers for the Ospreys with three apiece.

Wright scored the first two goals of the game and Stockton never trailed. Wright's first tally came just 32 seconds into the match and resulted in his 100th career point. Guy Loggi (Somers Point/Mainland) and Cal Sebor (Freehold/Freehold Twp.) also potted markers in the first quarter to help the Ospreys to a 4-2 lead. In the second stanza, faceoff specialist Tony Pagano (Flemington/Hunterdon Central) scored his first career goal and Loggi netted his second of the game for a 6-2 advantage at intermission.

Gencarelli buried all three of his goals in the third quarter and Becker added one as Stockton opened up a 10-3 lead after three periods. Mount St. Mary scored the first three counters of the fourth quarter to get as close as 10-6 but Alex Epifano (Marlton/Cherokee) halted the run 20 seconds after the Knights' third goal and Becker followed with two tallies 16 seconds apart to seal the 13-7 win.

In addition to his first career goal, Pagano dominated on faceoffs, winning 16 of 20 (80%), and scooped a team-high six ground balls. Goalkeeper Eric Leonard (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) collected the win with five saves, all in the second half. The victory equaled Stockton's only previous 12-win campaign, which came in 2002.

Stockton will play their final home game of the regular season on Wednesday when the Ospreys host Kean University at 7 pm.
