(Montclair, NJ) – Richard Stockton (9-3, 1-1 Skyline) was overwhelmed by 12th-ranked Montclair State (9-1, 2-0) 17-2 in a Skyline Conference road game, ending a six-game winning streak that was the longest for the Ospreys since 2005.
Cal Sebor (Freehold/Freehold Twp.) and
Alex DiClemente (Wyckoff/Ramapo) scored one goal apiece for Stockton.
The high-powered Red Hawks scored six goals in 10:06 during the first quarter and added four more tallies in the second period to put Stockton in a 10-0 hole at the break. The deficit reached 13-0 before Sebor finally got the Ospreys on the board with an unassisted goal with 5:09 left in the third quarter. DiClemente netted his tally with 10:50 remaining in the game but the outcome had long been decided as Stockton's winning streak crashed to a halt with the 17-2 defeat.
Drew Wright (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven) and
Erik Beck (Marlton/Cherokee) topped the Ospreys with four ground balls apiece while
Max Beck (Marlton/Cherokee) notched four caused turnovers and two ground balls. After relieving starting goalkeeper
Eric Leonard (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) late in the first half, backup goalie
Pat Quinn (Shrewsbury/Red Bank Regional) registered seven saves in the last 32:32 of the game.
Stockton returns home to host Maritime College in a Skyline Conference game on Saturday at 7 pm.
