Boxscore(Fredericksburg, VA) – Richard Stockton (1-0) kicked off the 2014 season with a solid 3-0 shutout victory over Marymount (VA) (0-1) in a neutral site game at Mary Washington University. The win was the 250th for head coach
Jeff Haines as he begins his 17th season at Stockton. The Ospreys scored all three goals in the second half, led by
Tim Sost (Egg Harbor Twp./EHT) with a goal and an assist. Stockton goalkeeper
Bobby Varga (Toms River/TR East) earned his third career shutout with two saves.

After a slow start, Stockton began finding its game as the first half progressed and registered five consecutive shots over the last 24 minutes of the period. The match was scoreless at the half but the Ospreys needed just 15 seconds after the break for Rutgers transfer
Bobby Spracklin (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley) to score his first goal in a Stockton uniform for a 1-0 lead.

The Ospreys added two insurance goals in the last 13 minutes of the contest. Sost scored unassisted at the 77:11 mark and then set up sophomore
Erik Kretschmer (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) for his first career goal nine minutes later to seal the 3-0 triumph. Stockton outshot Marymount 16-4 in the contest.

With the win, Haines improved to 250-93-29 (.711 winning percentage) in his career. During his tenure, Haines has helmed the Ospreys to an NCAA championship (2001), two NCAA Final Fours (1999, 2001), four NJAC titles, seven NCAA Tournament berths and three ECAC Metro crowns. He ranks 26th among active NCAA Division III coaches in winning percentage.
