Anthony Colofranson
Boxscore

Galloway, NJ – Richard Stockton (6-2-1) saw their five-game winning streak come to a halt as 18th-ranked Swarthmore (6-0) downed the Ospreys 2-1 on  Wednesday night at G. Larry James Stadium. Both of the Garnet scores came in the first 32 minutes of play.

With every inch of the pitch being fought for, Stockton was able to muster just two shots on net in the first half without success. Swarthmore's Wyatt McCall broke the scoreless affair when he got a pass from David Geschwind and put a shot past Ospreys goalie Bobby Varga (Toms River/Toms River East) for a 1-0 lead at 23:02. Just over eight minutes later, Michael Stewart blasted a shot from outside the box for a 2-0 lead that the Garnet would not relinquish. Billy Evers dished the helper on the tally.

The Ospreys came out in the second stanza with a renewed sense of purpose and improved their level of play. At 53:48, Bobby Spracklin (Easthampton/Rancocas Valley) sent a long pass to Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Heights/Gateway). Colofranson slipped by the Garnet defense and sent his eighth goal of the season to the lower left corner to cut the lead to 2-1, but Stockton could not get the equalizer. Colofranson extended his goal streak to six consecutive games.

Varga took the loss without making a save for Stockton. Tyler Zon remained unbeaten for Swarthmore, making five saves in gaining his sixth win in net.

Stockton will take to the road for their next game, as they will open up NJAC play facing Ramapo on Saturday for a 1 pm matchup.
