Boxscore

Ewing, NJ – Richard Stockton (7-2-2, 1-0-1 NJAC) won for the sixth time in their last eight contests by posting a 1-0 win on the road over The College of New Jersey (3-5-2, 0-2 NJAC) on Wednesday night. Ian Carmelia (Mt. Holly/Rancocas Valley) scored his first goal of the season for the only marker in the game.

The battle was scoreless early until the 9:30 mark of the first half, when Carmelia one-timed a pass from freshman Alex Kourahanis (Sicklerville/Timber Creek) to give Stockton a 1-0 lead that they would not relinquish.

Stockton's defense took over from there as they allowed just five shots, and only three on net, in the game while squeezing off 25 attempts at the TCNJ goal.

Ospreys' goalkeeper Bobby Varga (Toms River/Toms River East) ran his record to 5-2-2 on the season by making all three saves, with two coming in the first half of play. Varga also posted his sixth shutout of the season. TCNJ goalie Jake Nesteruk made six saves in the loss for the Lions.

Stockton will return home for their next match as they will face Montclair State on Saturday. The game is scheduled for 3 pm.
