Boxscore

Galloway, NJ – Richard Stockton (12-2, 6-1 NJAC) ranked #12 nationally by D3hoops.com, dropped their first league game as Frank Nock hit an off-balance three-pointer with 1.5 seconds remaining to deal the Ospreys a 65-63 defeat to Ramapo (10-4, 4-3) on Monday afternoon. The Ospreys rebounded after a sluggish first half that saw them shoot just 7-24 (29.2%) and trail 30-22 in the rare Monday afternoon matinee.

A tip-in by Marcus Harmon (Whitesboro/Middle Twp.) knotted the game for the seventh time at 58-58 before Armin Cane (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) scored Stockton's next five points to give the Ospreys a 63-60 lead with 1:33 to play. Ramapo closed within 63-62 on a basket 13 seconds later. After one empty possession by each team, the Ospreys had a chance to seal the game after a Ramapo miss with 14 seconds left but couldn't keep a loose ball from going out of bounds, setting up Nock's game-winner. Cane had one last look as time expired but his 25-footer fell off the rim as the final buzzer sounded.

The first half saw the tense battle highlighted by five lead changes and three ties. Stockton seemed to have a handle on the game until the Roadrunners ended the first stanza on an 11-1 run to take the eight-point advantage into the locker room. Harmon scored nine of his career-high 16 points in the first stanza to keep Stockton close.

In the second half, the Ospreys battled back to forge a 41-41 tie with 12:06 remaining. Cane, plagued with foul trouble during the first half, came alive and scored five points during the 19-11 spurt. The Roadrunners took control once again, upping their lead to 55-47 with just under seven minutes to play. Cane scored six points and Harmon added four as Stockton rallied for a 60-58 edge with 2:09 on the clock but Ramapo outscored the Ospreys 7-3 the rest of the way.

In addition to Harmon's career day, Josh Blamon (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) tied for team honors with 16 points and shot 4-9 from three-point range. Cane scored 12 of his 15 markers in the second stanza. Anthony Woodard (Atlantic City/Atlantic City) had a monster day on the glass, grabbing a career-high 12 rebounds as well as blocking four shots and dishing four assists to go with six points. Stockton out-rebounded Ramapo by a 41-32 margin for the game.

For the Roadrunners, Nock led all scorers with 21 points on 7-11 shooting and 4-5 from behind the arc. He also snatched a team-high five rebounds. Ve'Shawn Polite was the only other player for Ramapo in double figures with 19 points on 8-10 shooting, including hitting his first seven attempts.

Stockton will travel to Montclair State for their next game on Wednesday night. Game time is set for 8 pm.
