BoxscoreWayne, NJ – Richard Stockton (17-3, 11-2 NJAC) ranked #13 nationally by D3hoops.com, after dropping their last game at home, regained control of the NJAC standings with a tough 61-57 win over #25 William Paterson (16-3, 10-2 NJAC) on Saturday afternoon. The contest featured five ties, with the lead changing hands 11 times and the victory gave Stockton the season sweep over the Pioneers. The win was Stockton's fifth in their last six games.

The Ospreys were able to take a six-point advantage late in the first half at 25-19 before Terik Bridgeman scored five straight points to bring the game within one at 25-24. Stockton answered with seven straight points, including three by
Darius Jerkins (Somers Point/Mainland) before settling at 31-26 at the break in favor of the Ospreys.

Stockton looked as though they would wrap the game up easily during a stretch in the second half when they ran off on a 13-1 run, encompassing a span of about six and a half minutes, to take a 55-44 lead with 3:57 remaining.
Josh Blamon (Cinnaminson/Cinnaminson) and
Armin Cane (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) accounted for 12 of the markers.

The Pioneers would not be deterred as they roared back with a 10-2 spurt of their own to close to 57-54 with 52 seconds left, but they missed three consecutive three-pointers on one possession before Blamon and
Myles Reuben (Edison/J.P. Stevens) nailed four foul shots to offset a last-second three-pointer that set the final at 61-57.

Cane led all scorers with 19 points, while Blamon added 17 points, including 10 in the second half.
Marcus Harmon (Whitesboro/Middle Twp.) pulled down eight rebounds as Stockton edged the Pioneers on the glass 42-36.

For the Pioneers, Bridgeman topped the squad with 16 points and a game high 12 rebounds, with Sandy Burgos the only other Paterson player in double figures with 11 markers. Bridgeman also dished four assists.

Stockton will return home for their next game on Wednesday night, to face Rutgers-Camden for a 6 pm tip off.
