Boxscore

Wayne, NJ –Richard Stockton (15-4, 12-1 NJAC) had one of their best shooting games of the season and was able to hold off William Paterson (11-8, 7-5 NJAC) 80-73 on Saturday afternoon. The Ospreys shot 54.9% (28-51) from the field while hitting 46.2% (6-13) from behind the arc for the game.

Stockton fell behind early to the Pioneers 8-6 but as it turned out, it would be the only time the Ospreys would trail in the contest. William Paterson was able to pull into a 19-19 tie at 12:54 before Stockton ended the half on a 24-12 run to take a 43-31 lead into the locker room. Stockton shot a blistering 59.3% (16-27) during the first stanza.

Balanced scoring helped forge the lead, led by Alex Nardoza (Fords/Woodbridge), Sasha Williams (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill West) and Sara Farrell (Marlton/Cherokee), who all scored eight points. Lea Mendolla (Nutley/Mt. St. Dominic) and Lauren Bowler (Little Silver/Red Bank Regional) added six and five markers respectively during the first 20 minutes.

Stockton pushed the pace of play upping the lead to 69-53 with 8:38 remaining before the Pioneers would rally to make the game close. The home team was able to close the gap to 74-71 with just 1:21 left in regulation, until the Ospreys were able to seal the game. A layup by Williams and four foul shots by Bowler and Jazmin Palma (North Bergen/North Bergen) offset a Pioneers basket to set the final score of 80-73.

Farrell led five Osprey players in double figures with 18 points. Williams earned her eighth double/double of the season, scoring 15 points to go with game highs of 10 boards and six blocked shots. Mendolla and Bowler both set career highs with 14 and 11 points respectively, with Mendolla dishing a career-tying three assists. Nardoza, in her first game back from injury, chipped in with 10 markers. Mendolla also shot 5-7 from the field including 4-5 from the three point line, with Palma dishing a game high seven helpers.

Brittany Harden led all scorers with 22 points, while Alex Milne (seven rebounds) and Sara Luberto both tallied 12 points each. Jackie Rodriguez rounded out the Pioneers' scoring with 11 markers.

Stockton's next game will be Wednesday night when they will host Rutgers-Camden. Game time is scheduled for 8 pm.
