Boxscore

Glassboro, NJ – Stockton University (11-3-1, 4-1-1 NJAC) scored an early goal and made it stand up for a 1-0 victory over rival Rowan University (10-4, 2-3) that extended the Ospreys' unbeaten streak to five (4-0-1). Freshman Steven Tobolski (Vineland/Vineland) scored the game-winner in the 18th minute and Stockton posted its fourth consecutive shutout. The triumph also was the Ospreys' third straight over Rowan.

With 17:26 gone in the game, Tobolski took a feed from Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Hts./Gateway) and netted his fourth goal of the season. Stockton nearly added an insurance goal 10 minutes later as Colofranson rang a shot off the post. The Ospreys outshot Rowan 9-5 in the first half and led 1-0 at the break.

Stockton protected its slim one-goal lead throughout the second half despite being outshot 6-1 and out-cornered 3-0 in the period. Goalkeeper Bobby Varga (Toms River/TR East) made four second-half saves and the Ospreys survived a scare in the 62nd minute when Rowan's Tyler Logar bounced a shot off the crossbar. Varga made one last save on a header with 1:08 remaining to clinch the 1-0 Stockton victory.

Varga finished with seven saves and recorded his league-leading seventh shutout of the season. Varga also extended his shutout streak to 435 minutes since he last allowed a goal. Rowan wound up with a slight 11-10 edge in shots in a tense match that saw the teams combine for 39 fouls and six yellow cards.

Stockton will host Farmingdale State in a non-conference game at G. Larry James Stadium on Saturday at 2 p.m.
