First-Half Surge Propels Stockton to 5-0 Win

Boxscore

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (12-3-1) scored four goals in the first half and sailed to a 5-0 victory over Farmingdale State (7-7-1) on Saturday afternoon. Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Hts./Gateway) led Stockton with two goals and an assist while Alex Kourahanis (Sicklerville/Timber Creek) notched two goals and one assist. The Ospreys fired off a whopping 43 shots, including 19 on net, to just three for the visitors in the lopsided contest.

Stockton got on the board early as Kourahanis potted his fourth goal of the season 3:40 into the contest. His tap-in of a Colofranson pass gave the home team a 1-0 lead that they would never relinquish. Kourahanis struck again 10 minutes later on a header, again from Colofranson, for a 2-0 margin.

Four minutes after that, Colofranson blasted a shot, with an assist by Kourahanis this time, for a 3-0 advantage at 17:32. Jared Ruff (Delran/Delran) scored his third tally of the season at 28:04 with a tap-in off a Chimaobi Ikwuagwu (Camden, DE/Caesar Rodney) feed for a 4-0 lead at the break.

Colofranson ended the scoring with his team-leading 12th marker of the season at 59:39 to set the final score at 5-0. Freshman Zach Burns (Washington Twp./Washington Twp.) assisted on Colofranson's header for his first career point. Colofranson now has at least one point in five of the last six games.

Stockton netminder Bobby Varga (Toms River/TR East) played the first half, picking up his 10th win of the season. Chris Giraudin (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) took over in goal for the second half and neither goalie had to make a save in the game. Varga extended his current scoreless streak to 480 minutes. Jeff Valencia made 12 saves for the Rams in goal before giving way to Lucas Mallia, who played the final 13:49 in net and kicked out two shots.

Stockton will take to the road on Monday night for a makeup NJAC game at William Paterson at 7 p.m.
