BoxscoreWayne, NJ – Stockton University (13-3-1, 5-1-1 NJAC) built a three-goal lead and went on to a 3-2 victory over William Paterson (4-8-2, 1-5-1) in an NJAC makeup game from October 3. With the win, the Ospreys extended their unbeaten streak to seven (6-0-1).
Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Hts./Gateway) scored his 50th career goal and 13th of the season to spark Stockton.
Colofranson started the scoring 14:50 after the opening kickoff, potting a header assisted by
Ian Carmelia (Mt. Holly/Rancocas Valley). Colofranson joined Hernan Maldonado (61 goals, 1983-86) and Rafael Duarte (55 goals, 2007-10) as the only players in school history to reach the 50-goal mark. The junior has 50 goals in just 59 career games.
Stockton doubled its lead 11:22 into the second half as
Tyler Mills (East Windsor/Hightstown) netted his third goal of the year by heading home a corner kick from
Bobby Spracklin (Eastampton/Rancocas Valley).
Chimaobi Ikwuagwu (Camden, DE/Caesar Rodney) scored what seemed to be the exclamation point with just 6:19 remaining to make it 3-0. Sophomore
James Kayal (Mahwah/Mahwah) earned his first career point with the assist.
William Paterson got on the board with a successful penalty kick by JP Gonzales three minutes later. The goal was the first allowed by Stockton in 621 minutes since TCNJ scored against them back on September 30. Josh Summerer scored with 43 seconds left to make things a little interesting before Stockton closed out the 3-2 victory.
Osprey goalkeeper
Bobby Varga (Toms River/TR East) improved his record to 11-3-1 on the season with three saves for the win. The shots were 9-8 and the corner kicks were 10-4, both in favor of Stockton.
