Boxscore

Wayne, NJ – Stockton University (3-10, 0-4 NJAC) fell victim to a three-goal barrage in a 15-minute span of the first half and suffered a 3-2 setback in a conference game at William Paterson (10-4, 3-0). Freshman Victoria Caiazzo (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) scored her first career goal and Laura Olbrich (Pittsgrove/A.P. Schalick) also found the net for the Ospreys.

All five goals were scored in the first half, starting with Caiazzo's first college tally just 6:34 into the game after a penalty corner to give Stockton the early 1-0 lead. William Paterson surged ahead as Felicia Wetzel netted two straight goals followed by a marker from Angelica Giametta to put the Ospreys down 3-1 with 8:12 remaining before the break.

Stockton drew within 3-2 in the last minute of the first half with another goal on a penalty corner. Olbrich potted a counter for the third straight game, this time assisted by Alexa Massa (Moorestown/Moorestown), just 21 seconds before halftime. Olbrich's goal was her team-leading third of the season. The Ospreys were unable to come up with the equalizer in the second half, registering just two shots and one penalty corner on the way to the 3-2 defeat.

Stockton finished with a slim 10-9 advantage in shots. The Ospreys were outnumbered 15-5 on penalty corners but cashed in on two of their five opportunities. Leah Davies (Ocean City/Ocean City) led the team with three shots and goalkeeper Emily Sorochynskyj (Boonton/Boonton) made two saves.

Stockton will be right back on the field tomorrow with a makeup game at Swarthmore at noon.
