Boxscore

Swarthmore, PA – Stockton University (3-11) played its second game in as many days and wound up with the same result, a 3-2 setback, this time to Swarthmore (3-11) in a makeup game from September 10. Alexa Massa (Moorestown/Moorestown) and Kellie Brining (Cherry Hill/CH West) each scored a goal as the Ospreys rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game.

Swarthmore's Clare Perez and Kathleen Carmichael netted goals in the first 16 minutes and Stockton fell behind 2-0 early. The Ospreys halved the deficit with 6:05 left in the first stanza when Massa scored her third goal of the season with an assist by Sarah Gawrysiak (Haddon Twp./Haddon Twp.) on a penalty corner.

With 12:52 gone in the second half, Brining tallied her second goal of the year, unassisted, to pull Stockton into a 2-2 tie. The deadlock lasted just 32 seconds before Swarthmore's Erin Gluck answered with what proved to be the game-winning goal.

Stockton attempted three times as many shots as Swarthmore, 21-7, and held a whopping 17-2 advantage in penalty corners. Despite winning those statistical battles, the Ospreys were unable to turn them into results on the scoreboard. Goalkeeper Emily Sorochynskyj (Boonton/Boonton) made three saves and her counterpart Zelda Bank finished with nine stops for Swarthmore.

Stockton will have nearly a week off before continuing their string of five straight road games with an NJAC contest at Ramapo on Saturday, October 24 at 1 p.m.
