BoxscoreGalloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-2-3, 0-1-3 NJAC) saw their 10-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of William Paterson (3-5-2, 1-2-1) on a rainy Saturday afternoon. The Ospreys outshot the Pioneers 9-4 but could not find the net and were blanked for the second straight game and fourth this season.
The match was scoreless until the 40:55 mark when William Paterson midfielder Elena Grady chipped in a shot off a loose ball in front of the net for what proved to be the only goal of the game. Following a sluggish first half, Stockton came out with a renewed sense of purpose in the second half, getting off eight shots after just one in the first stanza.
The Ospreys had two great opportunities for the tying marker. With 7:53 gone in the half,
Adrianna Boucher (Hamilton/Steinert) found some space on the left wing but fired a shot that sailed wide right. Six minutes later,
Alexa Aldredge (Cranford/Cranford) blasted a shot from the top of the box that hit the crossbar. Stockton was unable to penetrate the William Paterson defense and suffered their first loss since the season opener, 1-0.
Goalkeeper
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) saw her scoreless streak end at 391 minutes and finished with one save for Stockton in the loss. Liz Murzyn kicked out two shots in earning her first win and shutout of the season for the Pioneers.
Stockton will take to the road on Wednesday night for a non-conference game at Penn State-Abington at 7 pm.
