Christina Denney (Millstone/Allentown) netted her first two career goals to lead the Ospreys.
Abigayle Musto (Wall Twp./Wall) and
Alexa Fama (Linwood/Mainland) potted one goal apiece in the victory.
Penn State Abington took the early lead on its only shot of the first half as Emily Kennedy scored just 3:46 into the game. Despite a 15-1 shot advantage in the stanza, the Ospreys trailed until just before halftime. With nine seconds on the first-half clock, Denney collected her first college goal with an assist by
Marissa Bruno (Toms River/TR East) to tie the match 1-1.
Musto gave Stockton a 2-1 lead with an assist by
Lindsey Thomas (Swedesboro/Kingsway) at the 57-minute mark but the advantage lasted just 25 seconds until an own goal tied the game for the second time at 2-2.
The Ospreys went back in front five minutes later when Fama scored her first goal of the season on a rebound after a shot by Thomas was saved Penn State Abington goalie Emily Polcino. Fama missed all of last season due to injury and the marker was her first since November 17, 2013. Denney added an insurance goal with 9:17 remaining to seal the 4-2 Stockton triumph.
The Ospreys outshot Penn State Abington 28-3 and racked up an 11-0 advantage in corner kicks in the game. Stockton goalkeeper
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) earned the win with one save. All 19 healthy field players saw action in the game for the Ospreys.
Stockton will be on the road again on Saturday night for an NJAC game at Rutgers-Newark at 7:30 p.m.
