BoxscoreGalloway, NJ - Stockton University (9-3) scored a goal in each half and picked up their second straight victory with a 2-0 shutout over visiting Ursinus College (1-6-3) on Monday night.
Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Hts./Gateway) and
Chimaobi Ikwuagwu (Camden, DE/Caesar Rodney) scored the markers for the Ospreys.
Colofranson broke the scoreless deadlock at the 41:01 mark of the first half when he took a pass from
Jeff Morgan (Sicklerville/Timber Creek) and placed a shot to the top right corner for his team-leading ninth goal of the season. The goal was Colofranson's 46th career tally and tied him with John Epley for third all-time at Stockton. The 1-0 Osprey advantage remained through the end of the half.
The teams tightened up on defense until just over 10 minutes remained in the contest.
Jeff Tanski (Sicklerville/Timber Creek) was able to weave his way through the Bears' defense and found Ikwuagwu at the corner of the net for a tip-in that gave Stockton the insurance goal and set the final score at 2-0.
Stockton goalkeeper
Bobby Varga (Toms River/TR East) made just one save in picking up his seventh win and his fourth shutout of the season. Bears' netminder Vince Maiorino kicked out seven Stockton attempts in taking the loss.
Stockton will play the second of a three-game home-stand on Wednesday night, when NJAC foe New Jersey City visits for a match that starts at 7 pm.
