BoxscoreGlassboro, NJ – Stockton University (3-1, 1-0 NJAC) opened up a double-digit lead in the first seven minutes and cruised to an 88-71 victory over Rowan University (2-4, 0-1) in the NJAC opener.
Armin Cane (Pleasantville/Pleasantville) scored a game-high 21 points, all in the second half, and tied his career-high with 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Maurice Hart (Asbury Park/Asbury Park) contributed 18 points and nine boards while
Jaymere Hadden (Millville/Millville) also hit double figures with 15 points. Stockton shot 44.4 percent from three-point range (12-27) and 85.7 percent (12-14) at the free throw line. The Ospreys also controlled the glass 43-29 on the way to their 16th consecutive victory over Rowan.
Hadden scored six early points before a dunk by Hart gave Stockton a 19-8 lead just 6:29 into the game. The Ospreys continued to pull away, leading by as much as 16 before settling for a 47-34 advantage at the break. Hart led the way with 13 first-half points, six different Ospreys hit three-pointers and Cane grabbed seven rebounds before intermission.
Cane heated up in the second half, scoring 21 of Stockton's 41 points in the stanza. He netted 10 points in the first 2:50 of the period to propel the Ospreys to an insurmountable 59-38 advantage. The lead ballooned to 23 points on four occasions as Stockton stayed comfortably in front. The Ospreys shot 50 percent from the floor, including 5-9 (55.6%) from three-point range, in the second half and coasted to their third straight win, 88-71.
Stockton will have some time off before hosting The College of New Jersey in an NJAC game on Wednesday, December 2 at 8 p.m.
