Stockton Rolls 18-6 in Home Opener

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (1-0) scored the first 13 goals of the game and cruised to an 18-6 victory over Rosemont College (0-1) in the Ospreys' home opener. In his first game in a Stockton uniform, Mike Caposella (Wayne/DePaul Catholic) scored a game-high six goals and dished one assist for seven points. Nick Bologno (Glen Gardner/North Hunterdon) also tallied seven points on three goals and four assists.
 
Vincent Manasia (Clark/Arthur L. Johnson) netted four goals and added one assist while Tyler Van Benschoten (Saddle Brook/St. Joseph Regional) scored twice. Eleven Ospreys registered points in the game. Stockton outshot Rosemont 56-32, including 37-9 in the first half.
 
Caposella scored 1:10 into the game to get the Ospreys off and running. He potted three of Stockton's seven goals in the first period and added three more in the second frame. Caposella's sixth marker capped a run of 13 consecutive goals by Stockton before Rosemont struck twice in the last 30 seconds of the quarter for a 13-2 count at halftime.
 
The teams each scored twice in the third stanza, with freshman Zack Aho (Shamong/Seneca) scoring his first career goal and Van Benschoten adding his second of the game. The Ospreys capped the 18-6 win with three counters in the fourth quarter, two by Bologno and one by Manasia, with all three assisted by Max Becker (Oak Ridge/Jefferson Twp.).
 
Starting goalkeeper Eric Leonard (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) earned the win with five saves in the first half. Matthew Deiner (Millstone/Christian Brothers Academy) played the third quarter followed by Pat Quinn (Shrewsbury/Red Bank Regional) with six stops in the fourth quarter.
 
Justin Regan scored two goals to lead Rosemont. Ravens' goalie Kiefer Paul finished with 14 saves.
 
Stockton will continue a three-game homestand on Saturday when the Ospreys host FDU-Florham at noon.
