Boxscore Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (2-0) picked up their second consecutive home win with a 10-5 victory over FDU-Florham (0-2) on Saturday afternoon.
Vincent Manasia (Clark/Arthur L. Johnson) led the way for the Ospreys by scoring four times for the second straight game. Stockton outshot the Devils 44-31 on the afternoon.
Stockton opened the scoring as
Matt Towne (Dover, DE/Dover) nailed his first of two scores on the day on an assist from
Nick Bologno (Glen Gardner/North Hunterdon) for a 1-0 lead. The Devils tied it at 1-1 with 1:51 left, but the Ospreys regained the one-goal margin as Bologno tallied a man-up goal with just eight seconds remaining for the 2-1 lead after one period.
Lance Pecina (Clark/Arthur L. Johnson) had the helper on the play.
The Devils tied the game once again early in the second period before the Ospreys exploded for three scores in a span of 4:34. A
Mike Caposella (Wayne/DePaul Catholic) goal and two markers by Manasia gave Stockton a 5-2 advantage. FDU-Florham potted one goal to cut the lead to 5-3 at the break. Stockton doubled up the Devils in the third period as Bologno and Caposella each scored a goal and assisted on the other's tally for a 7-4 lead after three.
To start the final stanza, FDU scored at 11:31 to make it 7-5, before Stockton put the game away. Manasia scored twice in 26 seconds, assisted by Caposella on both, for a 9-5 lead. Towne set the final score at 10-5 with an unassisted tally at 4:14.
In addition to the four scores by Manasia, Bologno, Caposella and Towne each hit the net twice. Bologno and Caposella each dished three assists to give them five points apiece on the day, with Caposella also picking up five ground balls and causing four turnovers to lead all players. Pecina and
Chris Kaczmarski (Somers Point/Mainland) also registered helpers. For Kaczmarski, it was his first point in a Stockton uniform.
Eugene Isola (Monroe Twp./CBA) won 12-16 (.797) faceoffs and scooped a game-high nine ground balls.
Five different Devils scored on the day led by Jake Higgins, Daniel Minnich and Dan Sagl who each registered a goal and assist.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Eric Leonard (Mt. Laurel/Lenape) made 14 saves in earning his second win of the season for Stockton. Connor Evans kicked out 15 shots for FDU-Florham in the loss.
Stockton will be off until next Saturday March 7 when they will play their third straight home game, against Wesley at 1 pm.
