Stockton Rolls to Sixth Straight Win, 81-63

Boxscore

Mahwah, NJ – Richard Stockton (18-4, 14-1 NJAC) broke open a close game with a dominant second-half performance that propelled the Ospreys to an 81-63 victory over Ramapo (4-18, 0-15) that was their sixth straight win. Stockton outscored the Roadrunners 47-33 after halftime to equal its highest point total of the season with 81 markers. Freshman Lea Mendolla (Nutley/Mount St. Dominic) hit five of her team's 10 three-pointers and finished with a career-high 17 points.

Sara Farrell (Marlton/Cherokee) shot 6-10 and tallied 14 points as the only other Osprey in double figures during yet another balanced effort for the squad. Alex Nardoza (Fords/Woodbridge) contributed nine points followed by Marina Lukianov (Howell/Howell) with eight markers in 14 minutes. Jazmin Palma (North Bergen/North Bergen) dished a game-high six assists. All 18 Stockton players saw action in the game and 11 scored.

Mendolla hit two three-pointers and Sasha Williams (Cherry Hill/CH West) scored all five of her points as Stockton built an early 17-5 lead. The Ospreys were in front 27-14 with 6:17 remaining in the period but hit a slump and scored just seven points the rest of the way. Ramapo pulled within two before a Lauren Bowler (Little Silver/Red Bank Regional) jumper with six seconds left ended the half with Stockton on top 34-30.

After Ramapo scored the first basket of the second half, Stockton broke the game open with a 16-2 run in the next four minutes. Nardoza spurred the outburst with seven points and the Ospreys held a commanding 50-34 lead when it ended. Stockton continued adding to its advantage until the margin reached 23 points (66-43) after a Lukianov jumper with 8:17 to play.

Stockton led by at least 18 for the rest of the game as its bench players were used liberally on the way to team's sixth consecutive win. The Ospreys shot 54.5 percent from the floor (18-33), sank six three-pointers and went 5-6 at the line (83.3%) in the second half.

Stockton returns home to host New Jersey City on Wednesday, February 11 at 6 pm.
