Penn State-Behrend Boxscore /
Juniata BoxscoreClermont, FL – Stockton University (8-1) extended their winning streak to six straight with a two-game sweep on their final day in Florida. The Ospreys downed Penn State Behrend 5-1 before hanging on to defeat Juniata 6-5.
In the opener, Stockton tallied in three different innings to down the Nittany Lions. They plated two scores in the third after
Samantha Shockey (Deptford/Deptford) singled and was knocked home by a
Dominique Dorris (Mantua/Clearview) double for a 1-0 lead.
Victoria Conklin (Randolph/Randolph) then picked up an RBI single to plate Dorris for a 2-0 advantage.
The Ospreys picked another tally in the fifth on another Conklin RBI single for a 3-0 lead. After
Alexa Massa (Moorestown/Moorestown) singled to lead off the sixth frame,
Taylor Hopf (Woodbridge/Woodbridge) was hit by a pitch. With
Chelsea Thomas (Barrington/Haddon Heights) running for Massa, two errors on Penn State Behrend scored Thomas and Hopf. A run in the final frame spoiled the shutout for
Brittany Ksiezopolski, who ran her record to 3-1 with seven strikeouts while allowing just three hits.
The final game turned into a dicey affair when it looked as though Stockton would run away from Juniata. The Ospreys scored four times in the first inning on four hits and an error. An RBI double from Dorris, two RBI from
Gianna Cuffari (Cedar Grove/Cedar Grove) and an error gave Stockton a quick 4-0 lead. Juniata came back in the second for two scores before the Ospreys pushed the lead back to four runs in the third inning.
A single by Dorris, an error and a hit batter loaded the bases for
Lauren Knoble (Clifton, VA/Centreville) who drove in one run with a sacrifice fly.
Catherine Wunder (Clinton/North Hunterdon) plated the other tally with a single and it was 6-2 in favor of the Ospreys. Juniata scored single runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings, knocking freshman
Hannah Bibeault (Hopatcong/Hopatcong) from the circle in the process.
Allyson Kuhn (Leesburg, VA/Tuscarora) shut down the rally with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief for her first career save, giving Bibeault her second win of the season.
The Ospreys will be off until March 22 when they will travel to face FDU-Florham for a doubleheader starting at 1 pm.
