Stockton Blanks Drew Twice, 13-0 and 6-0

Game 1 / Game 2

Galloway, NY – Stockton University (10-1) extended its winning streak to eight by shutting out Drew University (3-11) twice in the home opener for the Ospreys. The scores were 13-0 in five innings and 6-0. Brittany Ksiezopolski (Hillsborough/Hillsborough) and Samantha Shockey (Deptford/Deptford) each pitched shutouts. Shockey also smacked five hits in the twinbill and reached the 100-hit mark for her career.

In the opener, Ksiezopolski was two outs away from a no-hitter before giving up a double down the left field line to finish with a one-hitter and six strikeouts. Shockey went 3-3 with three RBI and Dominique Dorris (Mantua/Clearview) was 3-3 with a double and two RBI. Marisa Ortiz (Manchester/Manchester Twp.) and Taylor Hopf (Woodbridge/Woodbridge) each stroked two hits and scored twice.

Ksiezopolski helped her own cause with a two-run single in the first inning that propelled Stockton to a 3-0 lead. Dorris and Victoria Conklin (Randolph/Randolph) each knocked RBI singles in the second frame to make it 5-0. A two-run single by Shockey and an RBI single by Dorris were the highlights of a four-run third inning that increased the lead to 9-0. In the fourth, Hopf keyed another four-run outburst with a two-RBI single and Shockey added another RBI hit as the Ospreys poured it on in the 13-0 rout.

Game two saw Shockey pitch a four-hit shutout with two strikeouts and go 2-4 at the plate. Lauren Knoble (Clifton, VA/Centreville) was 2-3 with two RBI and Dorris contributed a triple.

Stockton took an early 2-0 lead on RBI singles by Savannah Riotte (Elizabeth/Elizabeth) and Alexa Massa (Moorestown/Moorestown) in the bottom of the first. The Ospreys added a run in the second frame when Nicole Tomo (Cedar Grove/Cedar Grove) ripped an RBI double for a 3-0 count. Stockton later broke the game open with three runs in the sixth inning. The first tally came on a passed ball and then Knoble plated the final two runs with a single to right center that capped the 6-0 triumph.

Stockton will continue its homestand on Thursday when the Ospreys host a doubleheader against Alvernia at 3 pm.
