Stockton Wins Home Opener 6-3

Galloway, NY – Stockton University (6-4) made its 2015 home debut a successful one with a 6-3 victory over Penn State Abington (2-5) that was the Ospreys' fourth straight win. Stockton took the lead in the first inning and stayed in front the rest of the way. Keith Tappert (Toms River/TR East) led the offense with three hits, including two doubles, three runs and an RBI. Mark Jankowski (Sewell/Washington Twp.) singled, doubled and scored a run in five plate appearances.
 
Stockton got on the board in the bottom of the first as Tappert doubled and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Brett Solomen (Harrison Twp./Cleraview). The Ospreys added another run in the second inning when Jankowski doubled and scored on an RBI single by George Eisenhart (Harrison Twp./Clearview). Penn State Abington drew within 2-1 on an RBI single by Tom Ditro in the fourth inning but the Nittany Lions would get no closer.
 
Stockton broke the game open with two runs apiece in the fifth and sixth frames. Stephen Struble (Hammonton/Hammonton) doubled home two Ospreys in the fifth inning. In the next stanza, Tappert smacked an RBI double and later scored an unearned run to increase the lead to 6-2. Penn State Abington plated the game's last run on an RBI double by Pat Fitzgerald in the ninth inning before Stockton closed out its fourth consecutive win, 6-3.
 
Stockton starter Ryan Adamski (Deptford/Deptford) pitched the first three innings without allowing a run or hit to earn his first win of the season. Adamski struck out three batters before giving way to four Stockton relievers who protected the lead over the last six innings. Matt Meyers and Brandon Mau each went 2-4 at the plate for Penn State Abington.
 
Stockton will have nearly a week off before hosting Wesley on Tuesday, March 24 at 3 pm.
