Game 2Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (8-5, 1-1 NJAC) opened conference play in the NJAC on Saturday afternoon by splitting a doubleheader with Montclair State (5-8, 1-1 NJAC). The Ospreys took the opener 7-1 before the Red Hawks captured the nightcap 5-3.
Erik Danser (Marlton/Cherokee) led the Stockton offense on the day with three hits and three RBI.

Ryan Adamski (Deptford/Deptford) tossed eight strong innings in the first game, scattering six hits and allowing one run as Stockton took the contest 7-1. The Ospreys broke open a 1-1 pitcher's duel, with three runs apiece in the sixth and seventh frames to extend their winning streak to six straight.
Matt Mangarella (Milltown/Spotswood), Danser and
George Eisenhart (Harrison Twp./Clearview) each rapped two hits, with Danser and
Brett Solomen (Harrison Twp./Clearview) driving in two RBI apiece. Adamski raised his record to 2-0 on the young season.

Stockton held a 3-2 lead in the nightcap until the Red Hawks plated two runs in the seventh that included a Christopher Reynolds solo homer. Montclair scored an insurance run in the eighth to make it 5-3. The Ospreys threatened in the bottom of the ninth, putting runners on second and third with one out, but the rally stalled there and the Red Hawks came away with the victory.

Mike Bergin (Middletown/Middletown South) started the game for Stockton, throwing seven innings with seven strikeouts but suffering his first loss of the season.
Keith Tappert (Toms River/TR East) went 1-3 with a double, stolen base and a run scored while Danser and Eisenhart added RBI singles.
Michael Macchia came on in relief, throwing five scoreless innings and allowing just one hit in picking up the win. Austin Minton earned his first save of the season, holding Stockton off the scoreboard in the ninth. Reynolds rapped out five hits for the Red Hawks in the two games, while driving in three runs, all in the second game, to lead the team for the day.

Stockton's next game will be a non-conference road tilt, as they will face Cairn on Monday. First pitch is scheduled for 3 pm.Â
