BoxscoreGlassboro, NJ – Stockton University (14-7, 4-6 NJAC) nearly pulled off an upset of #5 Rowan (26-2, 8-2) in a makeup game from last week but fell short 5-4 in nine innings. The Ospreys managed just five hits but capitalized on most of their opportunities to score four runs.
Samantha Shockey (Deptford/Deptford) tallied one hit and two RBI on offense and pitched 4.1 innings of relief, allowing just two unearned runs but suffering the hard-luck defeat.

After two scoreless innings, Stockton jumped ahead with three runs in the top of the third.
Gianna Cuffari (Cedar Grove/Cedar Grove) led off with a double and was replaced by pinch-runner
Alison Bastien (Barrington/Haddon Hts.) who scored on an error. Shockey earned her first RBI on a groundout and
Dominique Dorris (Mantua/Clearview) added an RBI single to put the Ospreys on top 3-0.

Rowan came right back with two runs the bottom half and tied the game with a single tally in the fifth. Neither team scored in the final two frames and extra innings ensued. Shockey delivered an RBI single in the top of the eighth but Rowan answered with a run in its turn that tied the game for the second time. Stockton was unable to score in the top the ninth and the Profs denied the Ospreys' upset bid with a walk-off infield single in the bottom of the ninth for the 5-4 final.

Stockton will return home to host The College of New Jersey in an NJAC doubleheader on Tuesday at 3 pm.
