Game 2Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (14-9, 4-8 NJAC) dropped both halves of an NJAC doubleheader to The College of New Jersey (16-6, 9-3) by scores of 6-5 and 4-1 in makeup games that were postponed yesterday.
Dominique Dorris (Mantua/Clearview) totaled three hits and three RBI while
Nicole Tomo (Cedar Grove/Cedar Grove) and
Samantha Shockey (Deptford/Deptford) each knocked three hits in the twinbill.

In the opener, Dorris went 2-4 with a double and two RBI. Shockey added two hits, a run and an RBI while
Marisa Ortiz (Manchester/Manchester Twp.) contributed two hits. The Ospreys scored three runs in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead.
Danielle Lugo (Vineland/Vineland) doubled and later scored on an error, Shockey hit an RBI single and Tomo singled and scored on a groundout.

TCNJ got on the board on an RBI single by Deanna Utter in the fifth inning and overtook Stockton with four runs in the sixth for a 5-3 edge. Madison Levine, Bria Bartsch and Jamie Purcell stroked RBI singles and Utter drove in the last run with a sacrifice fly.

 The Lions added another run in the seventh to make it 6-3 entering Stockton's last chance. Ortiz singled with one out and Shockey reached on a fielder's choice to bring the tying run to the plate. With two outs, Dorris doubled in two runs to pull the Ospreys within 6-5, but she was stranded at second and Stockton suffered the one-run defeat.

After outhitting TCNJ 10-8 in the first game, the Ospreys managed just six hits in the nightcap. Tomo notched two safeties, including a double, and Dorris was 1-3 with Stockton's lone RBI. The Lions got the scoring started in the top of the fourth with an unearned run and the Ospreys tied it on an RBI single by Dorris in the bottom half.

TCNJ took the lead with a two-out rally in the top of the seventh. After the first two batters were retired, two singles and a walk loaded the bases for Purcell, who drew a walk that snapped the 1-1 tie. Utter followed with an RBI single and the Lions scored their last run on a wild pitch.

Stockton faced a 4-1 deficit in its last offensive turn. Singles by
Holly Arentowicz (Roxbury/Roxbury) and
Allyson Kuhn (Leesburg, VA/Tuscarora) brought the tying run to the plate but reliever Sam Platt induced the final out for her second save of the day.

Stockton will be right back on its home field tomorrow for a non-conference doubleheader against Stevens at 3 pm.
