Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (13-13, 5-9 NJAC), playing their next-to-last home game of the regular season, defeated #28 Rowan University (22-8, 11-3) by a 5-4 score on Sunday afternoon. The game was a make-up from a postponement on Friday and gave the Ospreys a split of the season series with the Profs, ranked #28 in Division III by the ACBA. Rowan downed Stockton 8-5 last Thursday.
Jason Fox (West Deptford/West Deptford) and
Blaze Gaspari (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill East) combined
for the win on the hill .

The Profs plated a run in the second inning to open the scoring before Stockton answered with two of their own in their half of the frame.
Mark Jankowski (Swell/Washington Twp.) reached on an error and after advancing to third,
Bryce DiPaola (Eastampton/Rancocas valley) scored him with a double to tie the game at 1-1. One batter later,
Dan Sweeney (Middletown/Middletown South) singled home DiPaola for the 2-1 lead.

Stockton tacked on two more markers in the fourth inning as
Erik Danser (Marlton/Cherokee) singled in one run and a DiPaola sacrifice fly gave the Ospreys a 4-1 advantage. Both teams scored a run in the fifth inning to give Stockton a 5-2 lead after
George Eisenhart (Harrison Twp./Clearview) scored on a wild pitch, before Rowan cut the lead with two runs in their half of the seventh, trimming Stockton's lead to 5-4.

Both squads had good scoring opportunities in the final two innings, but neither team could push across any more tallies and the final score was set at 5-4 in favor of the Ospreys.

Sweeney led the Ospreys with two hits while Jankowski scored twice and DiPaola knocked in two runs. Fox picked up his second win of the season, tossing the first five innings and allowing two runs and four hits. Gaspari finished the game, scattering six hits over four frames, giving up one earned run and striking out four batters for his second save of the year.

For the Profs, Steven Todd and Ryan Pavlik each had two hits while Todd scored two of the four Prof markers. Starting pitcher Richie Suarez suffered his first loss of the season, allowing all five Osprey runs and giving up five hits.

Stockton will play their last regular season home game against New Jersey City on Thursday. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 pm and it will be Senior Day for the Ospreys.
