Game 2Union, NJ – Stockton University (16-15, 5-11 NJAC) split a pair of one-run games in an NJAC doubleheader at #24 Kean University (21-9, 9-6-1). The Ospreys prevailed 1-0 in the opener but came up a run short 4-3 in the nightcap.
Dominique Dorris (Mantua/Clearview) rapped four hits in the twinbill. Dorris extended her reached-base and hitting streaks to 15 and 13 games respectively.

In the opener, the Ospreys managed just three hits but still won as
Brittany Ksiezopolski (Hillsborough/Hillsborough) tossed a four-hitter with two strikeouts for her fourth shutout of the season. Stockton capitalized on a Kean error to score the only run of the game.

Two of Stockton's three hits came on consecutive singles by
Samantha Shockey (Deptford/Deptford) and then Dorris with two outs in the first inning but the Ospreys could not convert. Ksiezopolski allowed just one hit through four frames and the teams went to the fifth stanza scoreless.

With one out in the top of the fifth,
Holly Arentowicz (Roxbury/Roxbury) reached on a dropped fly ball and was replaced by pinch runner
Alison Bastien (Barrington/Haddon Hts.). Bastien moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by
Catherine Wunder (Clinton/North Hunterdon) and scored on a clutch two-out single by
Danielle Lugo (Vineland/Vineland). Kean got the tying run to third with two outs in the seventh but Ksiezopolski induced a groundout back to her to end the game as Stockton won 1-0.

Dorris went 3-3 with a double, run and an RBI in the nightcap.
Alexa Massa (Moorestown/Moorestown) was 2-3 with an RBI and
Marisa Ortiz (Manchester/Manchester Twp.) slammed a triple. The Ospreys outhit Kean 8-6 by fell one run shy.

Stockton broke on top in the first inning as Ortiz tripled and scored on an infield single by Dorris. Kean took the lead with two runs in the bottom of the first and the teams went scoreless in the next two innings. The Ospreys regained the lead 3-2 with two runs on RBI singles by Arentowicz and Massa in the top of the fourth.

Kean quickly went back on top by scoring two runs, one unearned, on two hits and two Stockton errors in the bottom of the fourth. Stockton produced just one baserunner in the last three innings as Dorris led off the sixth with a single. The Ospreys never seriously threatened and suffered the 4-3 defeat.

Stockton will be on the road again on Thursday as the Ospreys visit Arcadia University for a non-conference doubleheader at 3 pm.
