BoxscoreSalisbury, MD – Stockton University (0-1) was not able to mount much offense and dropped their 2015 opener to 2-0 Salisbury University (1-0) on Tuesday evening. Stockton notched just five shots for the game in their first contest of the season, which included a lightning delay during the match.
The Sea Gulls opened the scoring by hitting the net on their first shot on goal 12:06 into the game on a marker by Jenna DeLetto. The teams fired three shots apiece during the opening half. Salisbury netted an insurance tally by Samantha Beck early in the second half at 48:36 to set the score at 2-0. Both goals were unassisted scores.
Adrianna Boucher (Hamilton/Steinert) and
Alexa Fama (Linwood/Mainland) squeezed off two shots apiece with one each on net for the Ospreys.
Freshman goalkeeper
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) got the start in net for Stockton in her first college game, making three saves but taking the loss. Hope Knussman made two saves in earning the shutout victory for Salisbury.
Stockton will travel to New Paltz, NY this weekend to play in the New Paltz Vargas-Robin Tournament. The Ospreys will face Medgar Evers on Saturday and then take on host New Paltz on Sunday. Both games are scheduled for noon starts.
