BoxscoreGalloway, NJ –Stockton University (6-1) extended their win streak to six consecutive matches, all by shutout, with a 2-0 win over visiting Centenary College (1-5) on Wednesday evening.
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) earned her fifth straight solo shutout and stretched her scoreless streak to 524 minutes. Stockton outshot the Cyclones 20-4 for the contest.
The Ospreys scored at the 8:57 mark of the first half as
Mairead McKeary (Cranford/Cranford) got behind the Cyclone defense after a turnover and scored her team-leading fifth tally of the season. Stockton made the lead stand up throughout the rest of the first half, allowing just three shots in the first stanza.
Stockton sealed the contest with an insurance goal midway through the second half when freshman
Alexa Chiaro (Cherry Hill/Cherry Hill West) netted her first career goal for a 2-0 Osprey advantage. Chiaro potted a rebound off a free kick from
Lauren Bowler (Little Silver/Red Bank Regional) from just outside the box. Pallante made just one more stop to preserve the victory for Stockton.
Pallante raised her record to 6-1 with the two-save shutout in net for Stockton. As a team, the Ospreys have not allowed a goal in the last 568 minutes. Kaitlin Marold made six saves for the Cyclones in the loss.
Stockton will begin NJAC play on Saturday when travel to Ramapo for a 1 pm matchup.
