BoxscoreGalloway, NJ –Stockton University (1-3) fell behind by two goals in the first four minutes and could not recover as Gwynedd Mercy (3-2) defeated the Ospreys 7-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Griffins outshot Stockton 21-6, with freshman goalkeeper
Emily Sorochynskyj (Boonton/Boonton) making 11 saves for the Ospreys.
Grace Kinney (Brigantine/GCIT) fired a team-high three shots for Stockton.
Two Gwynedd Mercy goals by Melissa Russo at 1:46 and 3:57 put Stockton in an early 2-0 hole. The Ospreys had two quality chances to get on the board in the next 10 minutes but Griffins' goalie Samantha Soscia made nice saves on shots by Kinney and
Alicia Belko (Hainesport/Rancocas Valley). Tallies by Brianna O'Connell and Katie O'Neill made it 4-0 at the half.
Russo completed her hat trick just 1:28 into the second half. Megan Senkelski and Stephanie Bacho later scored for Gwynedd Mercy as well. Stockton earned five penalty corners but generated only two shots in the second stanza and was shut out for the second time this year.
Stockton will be home again on Tuesday night when the Ospreys host Alvernia at 7 pm.
