BoxscoreMontclair, NJ – Stockton University (7-3, 1-1 NJAC) took the early lead but surrendered three goals in the second half and fell to #12 Montclair State (9-1, 2-1) 3-1 in an NJAC road game on Saturday night.
Tyler Mills (East Windsor/Hightstown) scored his third goal of the season for the Ospreys but the lead evaporated in the second half. Stockton goalkeeper
Bobby Varga (Toms River/TR East) finished with five saves in the match.
Stockton played a solid first half against the Red Hawks. A pair of defenders combined to get the Ospreys on the board just 5:02 into the game as Mills scored a goal assisted by
Clevon McPherson (Kingston, JAM/Pemberton). Stockton outshot Montclair State 8-6 and made the 1-0 lead stand up through intermission.
The Red Hawks raised their level in the second half, outshooting Stockton 13-6. Mike Olla tied the game 4:13 into the period and scored the go-ahead tally a little over five minutes later. The Ospreys registered four shots while trailing 2-1 but none found the mark. An insurance goal by Aaron Rose with 9:34 to play set the final score at 3-1.
Stockton will try to halt a two-game skid when the Ospreys host The College of New Jersey in an NJAC game on Wednesday at 7 pm.
