Stockton Snaps Brief Skid with 3-1 Win over TCNJ

Boxscore

Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (8-3, 2-1 NJAC) snapped a two-game losing streak with two second-half tallies that propelled the Ospreys to a 3-1 victory over The College of New Jersey (6-3-2, 0-3 NJAC) on Wednesday night. Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Heights/Gateway) led the way for Stockton with two goals and an assist on the night. Colofranson's two scores moved him past Stockton head coach Greg Ruttler and into fourth place in school history with 45 career goals.

Colofranson opened the scoring with his seventh goal at 15:44 of the first half when he broke free down the left side and blasted a shot to the lower right corner for a 1-0 Osprey lead. The advantage lasted just over 10 minutes until TCNJ's Nick Costelloe headed a shot past Stockton netminder Bobby Varga (Toms River/Toms River East) for the tying marker at 1-1. Greg Kaye served the pass to Costelloe for the score. Both teams clamped down defensively and the game remained tied at the half.

The deadlock was broken 2:34 into the second half when Jared Ruff (Delran/Delran) took a Colofranson feed and scored his second goal of the season on a shot to the lower left corner for the 2-1 Stockton lead. Colofranson gave the Ospreys the insurance goal 11 minutes later on an unassisted blast to the top right corner at 58:12 for the 3-1 lead. Stockton protected the two-goal lead from there and came away victorious.

Varga earned his sixth win of the season, making two saves in the process. Jake Nesteruk made one save in taking the loss in net for the Lions.

Stockton will take to the road for their next game as they will visit William Paterson on Saturday for a 1 pm NJAC match.
