BoxscoreGalloway, NJ – Stockton University (7-1-2, 0-0-2 NJAC) extended their unbeaten streak to nine consecutive games (7-0-2) with a solid 3-0 shutout victory over Eastern University (3-5-1) on Saturday afternoon. Freshman goalkeeper
Nicole Pallante (Brick/Brick Twp.) posted her sixth shutout of the season and three different Ospreys hit the net with goals.
The Ospreys struck first as
Lindsey Thomas (Swedesboro/Kingsway) headed in a beautiful crossing pass from
Alexa Fama for a 1-0 lead at 10:43 of the first half. The Eagles tried to respond as their leading scorer Emily Cole headed a shot that Fama knocked away at the 24-minute mark to keep Stockton ahead. The contest would remain 1-0 in favor of Stockton through the break.
Eleven minutes into the second half,
Adrianna Boucher (Hamilton/Steinert) knocked in her third goal of the season with a nice shot into the upper corner for a 2-0 advantage.
Chelsea James (Howell/Howell) passed a ball through that found its way to Boucher for the tally.
Cole had two more opportunities to get Eastern on the board but Pallante was able to stop both shots, one a blast from 15 yards out and another on a header, to preserve the lead. Freshman
Alexa Chiaro (Chery Hill/CH West) put the exclamation point on the game with her second goal of the year with just 4:22 remaining.
Allison Reber (Brick/Brick Memorial) sent Chiaro in alone and she deposited a shot into the right side to set the final score at 3-0.
Pallante made four saves in earning her seventh win of her rookie campaign and lowering her goals against average to 0.31 on the season. Leah Lozzi took her second loss of the season for the Eagles, stopping five Stockton shots in the game.
Stockton will return to NJAC play on Wednesday night when they visit #16 The College of New Jersey for a 7:30 pm match.
