Boxscore

Galloway, NJ– Stockton University (4-7-4, 2-3-2 NJAC) scored twice in the first half and went on to its second straight win, 2-1 over William Paterson (6-7-2, 2-5) in an NJAC home game at G. Larry James Stadium. Alex Kourahanis (Sicklerville/Timber Creek) and Nick Cristea (Medford/Shawnee) scored for the Ospreys, who have back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Kourahanis ran onto a through ball by freshman Luke Morgan (Medford/Shawnee) and scored on a breakaway with 15:17 gone for his fourth goal of the season. Kourahanis found the net for the second straight game and Morgan earned his first career point with the assist.

Shortly after entering the game as a substitute, Cristea connected for his second goal of the year. Anthony Colofranson (Woodbury Hts./Gateway) flicked the ball to the top of the box, where Cristea won a footrace with a William Paterson defender and scored on a low shot with 8:40 left in the first half to increase the lead to 2-0.

The Ospreys survived a scare early in the second half on a shot by the Pioneers' Jake Dufner that hit the crossbar. Stockton's advantage was later trimmed to one with 24:39 remaining. William Paterson ran a nifty two-man passing play on a corner kick that ended with JP Gonzales scoring on a shot from the top left corner of the box to make it 2-1.

Stockton fended off six shots and three corner kicks by the Pioneers the rest of the way to post the 2-1 victory. Freshman goalkeeper Michael Lescano (Union/St. Benedict's Prep) tied his career high with nine saves to collect the win. Kyle Quigley made four stops for William Paterson.

Stockton will head out on the road on Tuesday for a non-conference game at Ursinus at 7 p.m.
