Galloway, NJ – Stockton University (18-9, 6-1 NJAC) rolled to a 25-11, 25-19, 25-5 sweep of New Jersey City (11-12, 0-7) in an NJAC home match for the Ospreys.
Jenna Lara (Ridgefield/Ridgefield) led a balanced Stockton attack with eight kills, tying her season high, plus a match-high four blocks.
Lindsay Schuele (Sparta/Sparta) spiked seven kills followed by
Idi Uffen (Williamstown/Williamstown) and
Stephanie Kovacs (Allentown, PA/Central Catholic) with six apiece. Setters
Jessica Ciandella (Beachwood/Roselle Catholic) and
Kennedy Hubbard (Moorestown/Moorestown) dished 17 and 14 assists respectively.
Rebecka Zabilowicz (Belmar/Red Bank Regional) scooped nine digs and tied Hubbard for match-high honors with three aces apiece. All 14 healthy Ospreys saw action in the match and nine registered at least one kill.
Stockton jumped out to a 10-2 lead behind two early kills by Uffen. Hubbard and Zabilowicz each served two aces as the Ospreys later closed the set with an 8-2 run to win 25-11. Kovacs and
Allie Desmond (Ellicott City, MD/Marriotts Ridge) spiked two kills apiece to spark Stockton to a 10-1 lead in the second set. The Ospreys led by at least four the rest of the way and prevailed 25-19.
Stockton built an 8-4 lead early in the third set and then pulled away by scoring 17 of the next 18 points to close out the match 25-5. Lara led the way with three kills in the stanza, followed by four of her teammates with two kills apiece.
Stockton will compete in the Swarthmore Garnet Classic this weekend, starting with matches against DeSales and Catholic on Friday at 4 and 6 p.m. respectively.
